At CouponCodes4u.com, we are always looking for ways to improve the quality and value of the coupon codes and discounts we provide to our community. When we realized that 32% of all coupon redemption on the site was for consumer electronics, we set out to see how our electronics deals stacked up against those of our competitors. The results are in, and we’re happy to report that we are a leader in all of the categories evaluated in the study, including coupon relevance, total dollar amount and average percentage that could be saved from coupon codes and discounts offered.
In evaluating our deals compared to our competitors’, we looked at the four most popular stores on CouponCodes4u.com that offer electronics: Amazon.com, Best Buy, Dell and Sears. Then, we compared deals for those stores on our site compared to deals for same stores on four other major coupon sites: RetailMeNot, CouponCabin, CouponMountain and Savings.com.
By way of methodology, we evaluated each site’s deals on the following metrics:
- Total Dollar Amount – For coupons that offered a fixed dollar amount off the retail price of the product, what is the total dollar amount that could be saved?
- Average Percentage Amount – For coupons that offered a percentage off the retail price, what was the average percentage of savings?
- Coupon Relevance – Is there a variety of coupons for consumer electronics? Are the coupons reliable? Are they mostly electronics (versus food, clothing, etc)?
The study results showed that CouponCodes4u.com offers the highest dollar savings for Amazon.com, totaling $160 off and beating the next highest dollar savings of $41 via RetailMeNot by $119! In fact, CouponCodes4u.com offers nearly double the dollar saving of all other coupon sites evaluated combined. In addition, we came in with the second highest dollar savings for Dell and Best Buy.

In terms of average percentage off the retail price for electronics, CouponCodes4u.com offers an average 40% off at Best Buy, securing the lead in this category over runner up CouponCabin by 12%. We also provided the second highest average percentage off for Amazon.com and Dell.

Lastly, we felt that coupon relevance, although more qualitative than quantitative, was too important to leave out. A coffee pot, for instance, would not be considered an electronics product – even if it did come from Best Buy! For this category, we asked ourselves, “Does this site have a good selection of reliable consumer electronics deals?” CouponCodes4u.com was one of only two sites evaluated that we could answer “Yes” for all four stores.
